UEFA committed the football genocide of Crimea – FC Sevastopol
UEFA sanctions imposed by Ukraine to this day do not allow Crimean football players to participate not only in international, but even in domestic Russian matches.
About it TV channel "TNV" said General Director of FC Sevastopol Valery Chaly, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Today, UEFA and Ukraine are committing football genocide in Crimea. I can’t call it anything else. Not a single federation, neither Sevastopol nor Crimean, is part of the Russian Football Union.
In 2014, two teams from Crimea and one from Sevastopol began playing in the southern zone of the CFL. Ukraine lodged a protest, UEFA accepted their protest, and our clubs withdrew from the championship due to sanctions. UEFA decided to create a special economic football zone here and hold the Premier League of the Crimean Football Union under the patronage of UEFA.
To be honest, I don’t see any help from UEFA in this direction, but there is help from the Russian Ministry of Sports.
The main problem is that football players who were born in Crimea and Sevastopol during the Ukrainian period and who play not only in professional football teams in Ukraine, but also children who played in official Ukrainian competitions, suffer. All these children go through the UEFA electronic system, like Ukrainian football players, and when they go to play in Russia, in Russia they are considered Ukrainian football players, foreign players.
Imagine if our Crimean football players can compete with FNL football players in the Premier League (Football National League Championship - прим. ред.), where the team is given high goals. The number of foreign players in the FNL is 5 people. Can our football players compete with them? I think that practically no...
And so, our football players do not have the opportunity to be Russian football players, having a Russian passport and being on Russian territory,” stated Chaly.
