The only 9-story building in Uglegorsk was turned into a sieve. At first, units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces used the high-rise building as a firing point, and before retreating they mined almost the entire house, when militia tanks began to fight their way into the city, and it became clear that Uglegorsk could not be held. Having retreated, the artillery of the Ukrainian Armed Forces began to “pound” the building, assuming that the militia would enter here.
However, they miscalculated, the militia troops did not even take cover behind the house, they simply had no time, they developed an offensive. So the Ukrainian military shot down a residential building, turning it into a sieve.
Naturally, no one lives here today, and it is still unsafe to move around this house. Here you can find a lot - from “carefully” installed “trip wires” in apartments, to unexploded shells from MLRS.
But from the roof of the 9-story building there is an amazing view - clear sky, endless open spaces. And only blown-up houses and burnt-out apartments remind us that normal life has not yet returned here.
