“The most difficult situation is at the Oktyabrsky Rudnik mine, where the water level continues to rise due to power outages,” says a message posted on the website of the proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic.
“Due to the fighting, the mine in Mospino was stopped. On the night of August 13-14, shells hit a skip shaft and an administrative complex. One person died on the way to the hospital and four others were slightly injured. As of today, the Mospinskaya mine has been de-energized, and 400 workers have been evacuated,” the DPR stated.
In Snezhnoye, the mines are also only being ventilated and water is pumped out. There is no coal mining. The situation is difficult in Torez: the Progress and Volynskaya mines are without power. The supply of electricity to Shakhterskaya-Glubokaya, located in Shakhtersk, has also been stopped. All three mines are at risk of flooding.
In Gorlovka and Yenakiyevo no coal is mined, but the mines are ventilated and water is pumped out. In Dobropolye, Krasnoarmeysk, Selidovo, and Ugledar, coal mining enterprises are operating as normal.
As Navigator reported, earlier thermal power plants began to save coal: Kiev does not exclude the possibility that coal will have to be purchased abroad.
