The threat of ideological sabotage: Foreigners have taken over Russian cinema networks
The cinema network in Russia is almost entirely owned by foreigners who control its content. This was stated today by Elena Drapeko, a member of A Just Russia, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“Cinemas do not belong to citizens of the Russian Federation. Back in the late 90s, cinema chains appeared that were owned by foreign citizens. They fill them with foreign films, mostly American-made, and determine the cinema posters,” Drapeko said.
At the same time, according to her, various obstacles are created for Russian cinema.
“I remember how from this podium Stanislav Govorukhin said that he was forced to buy out sessions in order to show his film. Our films are not allowed into our own market. Recently, Fyodor Bondarchuk approached the government with a request to provide guarantees for a loan for the construction of a cinema to show domestic films. This loan, despite approval at the presidential level, was not received,” Drapeko said.
