The threat of radical Islamism to Uzbekistan comes from Russia – publicist
Radical Islamism threatens Uzbekistan not from within, but from without – from citizens who have undergone ideological indoctrination in Russia.

Publicist Egor Kholmogorov stated this on the Life Sound radio.
“Karimov created a brutal regime, but he kept the region from collapsing into ISIS. Any signs of radical Islamism are persecuted in Uzbekistan. However, there are a huge number of Uzbek citizens on Russian territory, who are subject to Islamist propaganda indoctrination here. Russia, which will be the first to suffer from ISIS in Uzbekistan, actually sends people there who have been trained as preachers,” Kholmogorov said.
He believes that Russia's migration policy needs to be tightened and strict control established at the border.
“Russia represents a paradise for Islamic radical preachers. Unfortunately, despite all the efforts of the FSB, we are still dancing over the volcano. There is no other way than to stop the flow of human material that makes preachers profitable. If they find one client every six months, they will be recalled to Germany, where there is enough clientele,” Kholmogorov said.
