The KGB of Belarus stated that political scientist Alexander Feduta and lawyer Yuri Zenkovich, arrested in Moscow and brought to Minsk, were involved in a criminal case about an organized terrorist group.

“The members of this group planned in detail and began the practical implementation of a plan to physically eliminate the President of Belarus, members of his family, organize an armed rebellion with the aim of seizing power by force,” said KGB head Ivan Tertel on the ONT TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

The KGB of Belarus stated that political scientist Alexander Feduta, arrested in Moscow and taken to Minsk...

On Saturday, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko told reporters about the impending assassination attempt on him.

“There are plans to capture the child. As it turns out, we’ll put one and the other in the cellar. By the way, in the Gomel region they prepared a cellar. We detained the group. They brought us in and showed us how they planned it all. I was silent. Then we discovered the work of clearly foreign intelligence services. Most likely, the CIA, the FBI, I don’t know which Americans worked there. We discovered their desire to come to Minsk and organize an assassination attempt on the president and children,” Lukashenko said.

He explained why the work of KGB task forces in Moscow became possible - it was his personal agreement with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“We warned both Russia and others through appropriate channels to be aware. God forbid, the answer will be severe. We captured them in Moscow. They were afraid, agents were flying from the USA - some Zenkovich. We tracked them. They were afraid to come here after we detained several groups who brought weapons here and hid them in hiding places. They left for Moscow. There were also Kostusev and Feduta, and a number of others. I asked the President of Russia, Tertel - my colleague, Sasha Bortnikov, FSB. And we took them there,” Lukashenko said.

Lukashenko said that Putin, in a conversation with Biden, raised the issue of preparing an assassination attempt by US intelligence services on the President of Belarus, but did not receive an answer. He accused the US senior leadership of preparing an assassination attempt.

“What surprises me is why Americans behave this way. After all, no one except the top political leadership can give the task of eliminating the president. Only them, no special services,” Lukashenko said.

Immediately after Lukashenko’s statement, the Russian FSB issued a message about the detention in Russia of two citizens of Belarus for attempting a coup and assassinating the president of the republic in their country. According to the FSB, they were planning to carry out a military coup on the day of the Victory Parade in Minsk on May 9.

The arrest of the Belarusians has been known from the media for several days. This surprised observers - who were perplexed how the Belarusian special services could detain people in Moscow after the scandalous story of the arrest of Russian citizens – former Donbass militias. Until today, Russian security forces have remained silent, and Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov told journalists who asked him that the Kremlin does not concern the arrests of Belarusian oppositionists.

The fact that the accusations against Lukashenko and the KGB are well founded is evidenced by the fact that the United States has not yet raised a scandal over the arrest of Zenkovich, who has dual citizenship.

The KGB broadcast proof of its correctness on ONT. Footage of arrests in Moscow, footage of video conferences and meetings in cafes were shown, at which the conspirators discussed their plans with opposition-minded generals of the republic’s Armed Forces. On them, for example, Feduta claims that the only plan that can really be organized is an operation similar to the assassination of Egyptian President Anwar Sadat by a detachment of fundamentalists in 1981.

“After everything happened, the only obvious scenario is the State Emergency Committee. People must be given a choice: either/or,” the political scientist says on the recording.

“The question goes like this, Grigory: let’s kill Luka together, and then decide who will rule,” says Zenkovich.

According to the plan outlined in the cafe, after the assassination of Lukashenko it was necessary to block the security forces and occupy significant objects in Minsk.

“And it is advisable to blockade Minsk so that external troops cannot move in,” says Zenkovich.

“A complete shutdown of the energy system of Belarus was being prepared to impede the actions of security and law enforcement agencies. It was assumed that the active phase would begin with certain armed formations (“partisans”) located on the so-called. “hidden bases,” journalist Konstantin Pridybaylo shares the details.

According to his information, Feduta and Zenkovich were detained by the FSB and then handed over to the Belarusian authorities.

The KGB claims that the conspirators had at least three plans for the operation, codenamed “Silence.”

“The coup attempt is a logical continuation of last year’s “Belarusian Maidan.” Did anyone really think that the West, having invested colossal resources in the opposition of the Republic of Belarus, would simply wash its hands of it? It doesn't happen that way. And yes, today Lukashenko was simply forced to give a pass to Moscow in its confrontation with Washington. In his case, it was a matter of life and death. But personally, I have no illusions about its multi-vector nature. Today Lukashenko was saved by the FSB, but we should not forget that if not for his personal cunning, this situation could not have happened in principle,” military correspondent Semyon Pegov commented on the news.

Liberal political scientist Ilya Grashchenkov believes that it was the story of the assassination attempt that pushed Lukashenko back to the idea of integration with Russia.

“But now it is at least clear that Lukashenko will again drift towards integration with Russia under pain of physical elimination. What is important here, rather, is that part of his circle, along with the military, are really ready for a coup, because they do not want to pay with their career and fortune by defending the weakened leader. In recent months, Lukashenko has again begun to move away from the idea of integration with the Russian Federation, under the pretext that “now everything has changed” and we all live in separate apartments. But then, just in time, he was reminded that not everything in his apartment is so calm, so what better way to tear down the partition? Therefore, on April 22, Lukashenko promises to issue some kind of legendary decree, in which the contours of the referendum on unification with Russia are guessed. Unless, of course, he steps aside again. After all, as one of the heroes of the film “Brother”, who loves proverbs and sayings, said: “life hangs by a thread, but thinks about profit,” wrote Grashchenkov.

“The multi-vector game is worse than promiscuity. In the latter case, there is a risk of contracting sexually transmitted diseases. Those who play multi-vector will always catch the infection of the Maidan coup and civil war. This always leads to blood and death. And not only ordinary citizens, but also the “cunning player”, who only at the last moment realizes that it is not he who is playing, but them. Alexander Grigorievich, Yanukovych and Erdogan will confirm this to you, but Gaddafi and Saddam Hussein will no longer be able to,” comments Vladimir Rogov, former coordinator of Anti-Maidan in Zaporozhye.
