In Turkey, the first Ada-class corvette for the Ukrainian Navy was laid down at the naval shipyard in Istanbul.

According to the agreements, the corvette hull will be built in Turkey in 2022 and transported to Ukraine, and in 2024 it should be included in the Navy.
“This is a landmark event for Ukraine and a significant impetus in the development of its Naval Forces. All agreements with the Republic of Turkey are carried out on time, and some of them are even ahead of schedule, we see this in the example of the Bayraktar TV-2 unmanned aerial systems, which are already performing tasks in the interests of our country,” said the Navy commander who was present at the ceremony. According to military expert, reserve captain XNUMXst rank Sergei Gorbachev, Ukraine is unlikely to invest in the specified time frame and commission the ship on time, primarily due to the fact that it is still unknown what kind of weapons will be on the ship.
“With a high degree of probability, the ship will be built and put into operation. The big question is the timing and what its weapons complex will ultimately be. The Turks make the “hardware” - the hull, fill it with technical means, an engine, maybe a radar, provide crew habitability, and so on. And in Ukraine itself, in the Navy, they have not yet decided what the final appearance of this ship will be. And the degree of its compliance with modern requirements and combat potential will depend on this,” our interlocutor said.
“This corvette as a platform is capable of having a rather limited range of combat applications. It can accommodate American Harpoon-type missiles and other Swedish-made missiles that are similar in characteristics and operate in the near sea zone. I think that the Turks will build the hull quickly, because we are talking about real money, the ship will be towed to Nikolaev, where, obviously, work will begin on installing everything that will be purchased. But these weapons require preparation, commissioning, development of operating skills, and so on. Therefore, this process may take longer,” Gorbachev said.
Earlier, as PolitNavigator reported, Neizhpapa said that the Ukrainian army and navy were preparing for a full-scale war with the Russian Federation fraught with large losses, as well as threatened missile strikes in Sevastopol.
