“Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs Konstantin Kosachev on his Facebook page called the threat “another empty and meaningless game on the Western public in the role of an offended child,” the publication writes. “At the same time, he accused the Ukrainian leadership of “a fundamental, deep misunderstanding of those values that are generally considered European and which, of course, are shared by Russia.” The head of the Duma Committee on International Affairs, Alexei Pushkov, regarded Mr. Klimkin’s statement as “an attempt to blackmail the leadership of the assembly,” designed to “once again draw attention to the Ukrainian position.” At the same time, the deputy, in a comment to the TASS agency, expressed doubt that Ukraine would decide to leave PACE.”
