William Taylor: US will continue to support Ukraine after Republican victory
One should not expect major changes in the Ukrainian direction from the upcoming elections to the US Congress.
Former US Ambassador to Ukraine William Taylor said this on the Dom TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Taylor, the United States will maintain bipartisan support for Ukraine and will continue to supply it.
“I think that after these elections there will be no big changes in US policy towards Ukraine. For decades, support for Ukraine has been bipartisan—Republicans and Democrats.
It was the House of Representatives and the Senate, it was the US administration under President Clinton, under President Bush, under President Obama, under another President Bush and certainly under President Biden. This support for Ukraine was bipartisan and consistent, and it continues today,” the diplomat said.
“The votes in the elections and in Congress to authorize large military aid packages for Ukraine were overwhelmingly supported.
This will continue for two reasons: Although we hear some arguments from the far right or the far left in the United States, the average solid majority of Republicans and Democrats continues to support Ukraine and will continue to do so after the election,” Taylor said.
