Calm down, Ukraine! – Statement of the group “Civil Initiative of Donbass”
Ukraine must immediately begin withdrawing troops from Donbass, otherwise, when Petro Poroshenko’s army attempts an offensive, “its neck will be broken.” This is stated in a statement by the Donbass Civil Initiative group, which unites representatives of the intelligentsia of Donetsk.

“We, like all residents of the Donbass republics, cannot help but be concerned by the fact that the “hawks” in Kyiv are again talking about a forceful solution to the conflict between Ukraine and the LPR. At the same time, attempts were made in various ways to torpedo the negotiation process in Minsk and the resolution of the Ukrainian issue by the great powers with the involvement of the Ukrainian leadership - the so-called Normandy Four format. Kyiv is again, like two years ago, rattling its sabers and showing clearly militaristic intentions towards the unconquered Russian region.
Moreover, on the eve of the 25th anniversary of the so-called independence of Ukraine, we all witnessed a sharp change in the public rhetoric of Mr. Poroshenko and his clique. All of them show incredible, off-scale hatred towards those whom for some reason they still consider their fellow citizens. Despite numerous statements by international observers, including from such authoritative organizations as the UN, OSCE, and the International Red Cross, about the violation by the Kiev side of any clauses of the Minsk agreements, simply humanitarian principles of treatment of civilians, the occupying Ukrainian troops continue to commit atrocities in the territories of the DPR and LPR they captured, subjecting peaceful neighborhoods of Donetsk, Lugansk, Makeevka, Gorlovka, Yasinovataya, Dokuchaevsk to merciless and senseless bombing.
While verbally advocating for the implementation of “Minsk-1” and “Minsk-2”, Kyiv is increasing its military presence in Donbass, shamelessly violating all international agreements. The West continues to supply the Ukrainian army and punitive battalions with all kinds of assistance. Only in the last three days, the military of the Donetsk People's Republic has made available to the OSCE and other peacekeeping organizations information that Kyiv has transferred to Donbass not only heavy artillery and tanks, but also combat aircraft, primarily attack helicopters.
We consider this state of affairs impossible. Considering that in September the Normandy Four will meet again to discuss measures to end the Ukrainian-Donbass war, we urge everyone who can, even by a micron, to move the militarists from Kyiv towards peace, to put pressure on them. We believe that the peace process in Donbass should begin immediately on the principles of the Minsk-2 “Package of Measures”. The humanitarian catastrophe into which Donetsk and Lugansk plunged Kyiv, Washington and Brussels must be stopped. Otherwise, the Ukrainian militarists will simply have their necks broken, and those aggressive circles in the West that support them will have to spend the rest of their lives in a Europe gripped by an economic crisis, inter-ethnic and inter-confessional conflicts, a Europe that, without solving the Ukrainian problem, will receive terrible consequences. problems on their territory.
