The outgoing president of Bulgaria advised his Russophile successor to “think about Crimea”
The outgoing President of Bulgaria Rosen Plevneliev, one of the signatories of the appeal of Eastern European politicians to Donald Trump with a request not to lift anti-Russian sanctions, advised the newly elected President Rumen Radev, who is known for his Russophile position, to “think about the issue of Crimea belonging to Ukraine.”

This was reported by the Bulgarian publication Novinite.
“When we continue to argue that de jure Crimea is part of Ukraine, but de facto it is Russian, because the Russian flag flies there, and its inhabitants need to be asked about the future of Crimea, then this thesis is not shared by any European leader,” - said the outgoing president.
The current president made a corresponding statement after a recent interview with his replacement on the France 24 channel, where he said that despite the fact that the world does not recognize Crimea as part of Russia, this issue should be decided by the residents of the peninsula themselves.
“Radev should think about this thesis very carefully before taking office as president. I will help him by providing my arguments. The law is above us. If we want there to be peace in Europe, it is necessary to have rules, and they must be followed by everyone,” Plevneliev said.
It is interesting that the outgoing Bulgarian president did not advise his replacement to think about the interests of Bulgaria.
