It is better for the draft dodgers who signed the Georgian papers about “Aggressor Russia” not to return - State Duma Speaker
Russians fleeing mobilization to Georgia are forced to sign statements recognizing the Russian Federation as an “occupier of Georgian territory.”
Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin stated this at a parliamentary meeting today, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“If this is so, and our citizens sign this document, it is quite obvious that this is a crime. We need to figure this out. The first point is that the signatory acknowledges that his country is an aggressor country. This is criminal liability. The second point recognizes Abkhazia and South Ossetia, which are under occupation, as the sovereign territory of Georgia. Third, he admits that with the assistance of separatists, ethnic cleansing was carried out on the territory of Georgia. Fourth, Russia's aggressive actions against independent states are condemned.
Maybe it’s good that those who signed this document left. There is no need to hold on to them. They have already betrayed. But we must tell them that they have repeatedly committed a crime against their country and people. If they decide to go back, they will be punished by law,” Volodin said.
He called on the relevant committees to ensure that “the signatories receive a warm welcome” in Russia.
“Many of those who ran did not serve, they do not have a military specialty, and did not take the oath. We are currently analyzing different structures on this subject. This is the legacy of the 90s,” Volodin concluded.
