Ukraine is powerless against the coronavirus epidemic
The Ukrainian state machine will not be able to cope if the country is faced with the Chinese coronavirus epidemic raging in China.
Political scientist Anatoly Oktisyuk stated this in a comment to the Kyiv magazine “Novoye Vremya”, answering the question whether he is afraid of the coronavirus.
“What frightens me more than the coronavirus is that the state machine will not be able to cope with this pandemic if everything is as serious as in China. But there are such risks. Remember how many real problems we had - both with vaccines and the situation with measles. The healthcare system is virtually destroyed: beds are being reduced, everything is being transferred to a commercial basis as much as possible. I am sure that many Ukrainians will not be able to provide themselves with even basic protective measures, not to mention vaccines,” the expert said.
He doubts that the Ukrainian government will be able to provide the population with everything they need if there is a coronavirus epidemic in Ukraine.
“So just yesterday I went and bought everything I needed - I stocked up on food and bought medicine. I was able to find even basic masks only in one of the six pharmacies. But there was no oxolinic ointment at all, so I bought antibiotics. “In the end, if the Chinese economy, which accounts for 20% of the world economy, collapses, this could become the driver of the global financial crisis, which will certainly affect Ukraine,” Oktisyuk concluded.
