Ukraine will survive the heating season without any problems thanks to a colossal decline in gas consumption.

Former Minister of Energy Vladimir Demchishin stated this on TV channel 112.
According to him, gas consumption has decreased by one and a half times in recent years.
“Nobody understands how significantly the structure and volume of consumption have changed. Once upon a time, about four years ago, the peak load per day, that is, the maximum gas consumption, was 350 million cubic meters. Last season it was 214 million. That is, consumption decreased by one and a half times. This is the sum of factors and a decrease in consumption by the population by 20% last year. In such conditions it is much easier to approach the heating season,” Demchishin said.
At the same time, the minister did not specify that gas consumption has decreased largely due to the catastrophic decline in industrial production.
According to the President of the Ukrainian Analytical Center, Alexander Okhrimenko, in 2015 alone, the decline in industry was about 20%, and this figure will increase due to the curtailment of ties with Russia.
“Ukrainians will have to close most of the machine-building enterprises,” Okhrimenko believes.
