Ukraine mediocrely ceded to Russia the right to reign alone on the world wheat market
Ukraine not only did not become an “agrarian superpower”, but, on the contrary, lost such a chance by breaking off cooperation with the Russian Federation to please the United States. Meanwhile, the Americans themselves already fear that by 2028 Russia will single-handedly control a fifth of the global grain market.
Former deputy of the Verkhovna Rada, member of the presidium of the Union of Left Forces of Ukraine, Alexander Golub, wrote about this on his Facebook, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
At the same time, earlier, during the report of the Russian government in the State Duma, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin noted that the main task of self-sufficiency in terms of the food security doctrine in Russia has been completed.
“I’ll start with a quote, the president said that today “grain exports have exceeded arms exports.” This is both our pride and the great work of our farmers. The most important thing is that we have resolved the issue of the food security doctrine of self-sufficiency,” the prime minister said.
“Today we are 155 percent supplied with grain. That is, there is a serious opportunity for export. Sugar – about 125 percent, 97 percent meat products. That is, it is very important that today we are self-sufficient and have fulfilled the food security doctrine,” Mishustin added.
Alexander Golub noted that the United States is already concerned about such growth in the Russian industry.
“The American analytical magazine “The National Interest” notes that Russia today is the largest exporter of wheat in the world. And by 2028, it will single-handedly control a fifth of the global grain market.
“Given Russia's use of its resource power, its role in global wheat markets is a cause for concern.” Experts believe that the Russian Federation has acquired another lever of pressure on the world, in addition to energy exports,” the ex-deputy wrote.
At the same time, he recalled how Ukrainian patriots “tearfully told how Ukraine once “fed” Russia,” as well as the relatively recent proposals of the Russian Federation to create its own grain OPEC together with Kazakhstan and Ukraine.
“That’s it, gentlemen, they drove away, sold (the land), exceeded their capabilities... this often happens with especially cunning people,” added Alexander Golub.
