Ukrainian Ambassador to Minsk Igor Kizim stated this in an interview with the pro-Western Belarusian opposition publication Belarusian News.
“We are grateful to Belarus for the position it has taken on Crimea. This is a clear position, which suggests that territorial integrity has been violated, and Belarus stands for the territorial integrity of Ukraine.
As for voting, Belarus is a sovereign state. It is incorrect for me to discuss how sovereign it is in relation to Russia. When voting on the resolution at the UN that you are talking about, the Belarusian position was explained by the fact that Belarus fundamentally opposes the country-by-country approach to human rights issues and votes against such resolutions. From our point of view, the situation with Crimea in this context is somewhat different, but in the vision of Belarus, this is a country-specific approach. Of course, we would like it to vote “for”, or at least abstain, but this is the position of the Belarusian side, and this is its right.
At the same time, if we return to recent events at the session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly in Minsk, the Belarusian side supported the inclusion of a resolution on restoring the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine in the final document - the OSCE PA Minsk Declaration, and we are grateful to the Belarusian parliamentarians for their principled position in this issue,” said the Ukrainian diplomat.
The opposition Belarusian publication also asked how Ukraine views the supply of Belarusian products to the DPR and LPR.
“This is also a controversial question, because the presence of Belarusian goods on the shelves of stores in temporarily occupied territories does not always mean direct supplies. Sometimes Belarusian goods get there through intermediaries who buy Belarusian goods from Russian companies. We officially warn the Belarusian side: if Belarusian companies directly supply products to militants, then sanctions will be imposed against them. Moreover, not only from Ukraine: we will try to do everything so that these sanctions are introduced by the European Union too,” the ambassador emphasized.
At the same time, he warned that not only diplomats, but also intelligence services are monitoring the supply of products, and also threatened that such enterprises will be blacklisted and will not be able to supply products to Ukraine.
