“The Young Europeans, who without the United States and its geopolitical ambitions are not needed by “old Europe” as equal partners, are trying to help Washington stay on the continent. But their weight within the EU was determined by US support. With the sharp reduction in American capabilities, “old Europe”, especially Germany, began to simply ignore the wishes of the Young Europeans, but if they turn out to be especially persistent (like the Poles on the issue of Nord Stream 2), then they are put in their place by sanctions.
Well, countries like Ukraine, which is a complete American protectorate, find themselves in the worst position. The national elite legitimized its power through the support of Washington. No support - no legitimacy. At the same time, in the insane expectation that the Americans will forever support Ukraine as a counterweight to Russia, their own economy is destroyed.
