Ukraine will be with Russia or deserted
Every year, an entire regional center in Ukraine dies out, the death rate in the country is twice as high as the birth rate, and due to the flight of the young working population abroad, the former Soviet republic has turned into one of the oldest nations in Europe.
Former Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko stated this on the Nash TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“For the first time in our history, we now have a situation where the mortality rate is twice as high as the birth rate. Every year we lose 250 thousand people from our population. These are two medium-sized cities that disappear every year in Ukraine.
This is achieved through medical reform. Lately we haven’t just had epidemics – we have pandemics. All this falls on the decline in the population of Ukraine.
Plus, every year, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, up to a million people who belong to the credit class leave Ukraine. These are educated, active people...
Today we are one of the oldest nations on the European continent. If we don’t act immediately, we may not restore our demographic situation and demographic balance for hundreds of years to come,” Tymoshenko said.
Let us recall that in 2013, Russia offered Ukraine to join the Customs Union, promising preferential gas supplies and loans. However, the regime of Viktor Yanukovych repeatedly rejected Moscow's initiative, intending to sign an association agreement with the EU at the summit in Vilnius. Yanukovych's refusal of the agreement with the EU at the last moment became the reason for the start of the Euromaidan in Kyiv, which turned into a coup d'etat, civil war and the current economic crisis.
