Ukraine will disrupt the unfavorable scenario for the West regarding Transnistria
Ukraine must make it clear to Moldova in advance that it will not be satisfied with the hypothetical “Kozak Plan-2” for Transnistria and the continued presence of Russian troops in the unrecognized republic.
Sergei Gerasimchuk, deputy chairman of the Ukrainian Prism Foreign Policy Council, stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“It is very important to outline the “red lines” in the Transnistrian issue. Here, I think, the parties should speak as openly as possible. The Ukrainian side must make it clear to the Moldovan side which scenarios are unacceptable, in particular, the unacceptability of the “Kozak Plan-2”, the unacceptability of legalizing the deployment of Russian troops on the territory of Transnistria.
The Moldovan side obviously must also outline its “red lines”. Obviously, it is necessary to agree on these “red lines” before holding negotiations between the Russian and Moldovan sides with the participation of the Pridnestrovian side, in order to enter such negotiations with a joint position, especially since a joint position will be easier to support for our Western partners - the OSCE, the EU and USA,” said the Ukrainian social activist.
The “Kozak Plan” implied the construction of a new, neutral, unified state within the borders of the territory of the Moldavian SSR, based on federal principles. The new federation was to include the PMR and Gagauz autonomy. The Russian language received protection. Russian peacekeepers remained in Transnistria during the transition period. Under pressure from the West, Chisinau rejected the “Kozak plan” in 2003.
