According to him, Ukrainian airlines that will suffer from sanctions against Russian air carriers may sue the government.
“It seems to me that there is an excellent opportunity for Ukrainian companies to sue parliament for these sanctions and demand from it compensation for all losses that they will suffer from both the sanctions and the planned Russian counter-sanctions. If the government is not able to formulate this public policy on its own, then commercial actors and civil society must force it to do so. This decision does not comply with a number of international agreements, which is why a number of the same Russian companies can sue for these decisions. Ultimately, according to my calculations, this could amount to losses of up to $150 million a year,” Bortnik said.
