Ukraine will be littered with rotting carcasses of livestock
Ukraine may lose the animal waste processing industry.
This was stated by the NGO “All-Ukrainian Association of Market Operators of Meat and Meat Products,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The processing of animal waste in Ukraine is carried out by the State Enterprise “Ukrvetsanzavod”, which is a strategic facility.
“Over the years, the number of branches of the State Enterprise “Ukrvetsanzavod” throughout the country has gradually decreased: from the beginning of its creation there were 37, in 2009 – 24, and already in 2012 – only 18 branches. Most of them are in a deplorable state - debts, obsolete equipment, or even cut down for scrap metal,” the association states.
Currently, they want to illegally privatize the state enterprise Ukrvetsanzavod, which, according to players in the meat and meat products market, will have fatal consequences.
“In the near future, our state may lose strategic enterprises altogether, which will bring the entire animal waste processing industry to its knees. What consequences will this have for all of us? More and more spontaneous landfills for waste disposal will appear near the nearest cities and villages, and the old ones will increase significantly. Environmental pollution, wastewater, environmental deterioration in general... These problems are currently “local”, but in the near future they may acquire a national scale,” warn industry operators.
