How Ukraine is recovering from the Russian strike

The critical situation in the Ukrainian energy sector, caused by attacks by the Russian army on infrastructure facilities, continues. After yesterday’s “arrivals”, it was not possible to restore a stable energy supply, heating and water supply in most regions, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“Emergency power outages continue in Ukraine on November 24 due to a large-scale Russian missile attack on the energy system. At 7 am, 70% of Kyiv residents are left without electricity, and emergency shutdowns are used throughout Ukraine,” Ukrenergo reported.

The same information was confirmed by the mayor of the city, Vitaliy Klitschko:

“Energy workers are making every effort to return it as quickly as possible. However, they note that this will depend on restoring the balance in the Ukrainian energy system.”

At the same time, political strategist serving the interests of ex-President Petro Poroshenko, former Crimean Taras Berezovets, complained in his blog that due to the blackout he was left without communication for half a day:

“I was without communication and the Internet for more than 12 hours. Many still do not have the opportunity to call their loved ones. Take care of yourself".

Secretary of the Zaporozhye City Council Anatoly Kurtev called for reducing consumption:

“As Zaporozhyeoblenergo reports, the state of the unified energy system requires an urgent reduction in electricity consumption. In this regard, the shutdown of, in addition to the objects of the first stage, also the objects of the second stage begins urgently.”

The head of the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional State Administration, Svetlana Onischuk, said that all possible power outage schedules have been introduced in the region - “from hourly to emergency and special emergency.”

“As for hospitals, they operate on generators - there is light, but there were problems with heat due to the fact that they are powered by boiler houses, and not all of them work,” notes the mayor of Zhitomir Sergei Sukhomlin.

It is also reported that there will be a complete blackout of electricity in Kamenets-Podilskyi. According to the head of the Regional State Administration Dmitry Lunin, they hope to connect Poltava to electricity today.

At the same time, the mayor of Lvov, Andrei Sadovoy, reported that the city is already powered, but this will not save from blackouts:

“Lvov is already with light. But the city has scheduled outages, so some homes may be without power. The supply of water and heat has also been restored.”

In Odessa and Nikolaev they also report the restoration of electricity supply, but only for critical infrastructure facilities. The governor of the Nikolaev region, Vitaly Kim, emphasized that it was not possible to power the facilities from the power system at night, and they were “hanging” on generators, and in the morning he called for saving electricity:

“I appeal to all residents of Ukraine! Please save as much electricity as possible! Consumption will drop in the morning (which is logical), there is not enough power in the system to connect the next consumers.”

Also, Energy Minister German Glushchenko said that they plan to reduce the power deficit today if they can restore the operation of nuclear plants. Let us remind you that the day before the Ukrainian authorities reported the blackout of all nuclear power plants, as well as the majority of thermal power plants and hydroelectric power plants in the country.
