Ukraine is moving towards creating a language police
Ukraine's language policy runs counter to the Minsk agreements, which provide for linguistic autonomy for Donbass.

LPR representative Rodion Miroshnik announced this today at a press conference in Moscow, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Residents of Donbass have become hostages of rampant nationalism in Ukraine, when, under the pressure of “freedom” and “Azov”, the Ukrainian government makes decisions, and each time they become more and more radical. This is one of the main reasons for our anti-Maidan movement – the desire to preserve our culture,” Miroshnik said.
According to him, the current Ukrainian government wants to deprive Russian-speaking citizens of the right to use their language both in the official environment and in everyday life.
“Quotas on television and the law on education are stages of this policy. For us, these are bricks in the wall that is being built between the republics of Donbass and Ukraine. For us, this approach is unacceptable; on our territory, teaching is conducted in both Russian and Ukrainian,” Miroshnik said.
He believes that the next stage of Ukrainian language policy will be the adoption of a “wonderful law” on the status of the state language.
“We are talking about the language police, about fines for incorrect use of the language, about laboratories that will adapt the Ukrainian language to newly emerging concepts. Instead of the appendix, they will invent “chrobacupodibus vidrosten” or something similar. The goal of Poroshenko’s policy is to completely supplant the Russian language,” Miroshnik said.
