Ukraine is moving towards a bad scenario
After 2019, when the contract with Gazprom expires, Ukraine will face a sharp decline in the volume of transit gas.

Director of the Institute of Energy Research Dmitry Marunich drew attention to this aspect during a press conference in Kiev, noting that last year Ukraine did not purchase natural gas for a long time at all, and therefore its current reserves in Ukrainian underground storage facilities are at a very low level.
“At the same time, Naftogaz sold gas on the domestic market, and therefore its income increased. But next year we will still have to re-pump the spent gas. And, unfortunately, we are following a very bad scenario - after 2019, we expect a sharp drop in transit volumes. It can be either 6 or 25 billion cubic meters. If it is now 81 billion, then it will be, relatively speaking, 20. This will be a colossal failure in terms of revenue volumes and it is not a fact that we will somehow balance the money needed for gas imports and transit revenues,” the expert warned.
