“Ukraine is part of Russia. We will treat” - State Duma leadership
Ukraine is a sick part of Russia that needs to be treated like gangrene.
Deputy Speaker of the State Duma, member of the Supreme Council of the United Russia party and Vice Speaker of PACE Petr Tolstoy stated this on the RTVi television channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Tolstoy compared Ukraine to a sore leg on the body of a healthy person.
“We discuss the problems of Ukraine because Ukraine is part of Russia. We are discussing the problems of Ukraine because these are the same Russian people who were subjected to and completed a certain kind of experiment that did not work for us. So it's interesting, in my opinion.
This is roughly speaking, like, imagine that your leg hurts very, very much, you come to your friends and start saying that your leg hurts. In principle, no one will blame you for being super selfish, but you can’t talk about it all the time - you talked and tried to heal. We talk, but we don’t treat it yet, we hope it will go away. Gangrene does not go away, it must be treated, so we will treat it,” Tolstoy said.
The politician also emphasized that Ukraine has no chance of building a state separate from Russia.
“Gogol wrote “The Nose” about this. When some organ of yours believes that it is a person and becomes too independent, things don’t end well. In my opinion, Ukraine has no chance to build its own state separate from Russia,” the deputy concluded.
