Ukraine is still alive solely thanks to the renunciation of nuclear weapons - ex-prime minister
Iran's plans to develop nuclear weapons have sparked a confrontation with the United States and have not saved the country from security problems.
The same would have happened to Ukraine if it had not given up nuclear weapons.
Former Prime Minister of Ukraine Valery Pustovoitenko stated this in a conversation on TV channel 112 Ukraine, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Iran will have to give up nuclear weapons. I would like to address some of our politicians who say that Ukraine did the wrong thing by giving away nuclear weapons, etc.
Here's Iran for you. Ukraine would have been strangled and trampled long ago if we had abandoned nuclear weapons.
Moreover, today we are economically unable to maintain nuclear weapons,” the former prime minister concluded.
