Ukraine is fragmenting and moving away from Russia – Tsarev
The results of local elections in Ukraine, which can be summed up now, indicate that the country continues to divide and strengthen its anti-Russian course.
Former Verkhovna Rada deputy Oleg Tsarev stated this in a comment to PolitNavigator.
According to the politician, the elections showed the defeat of the ruling Servant of the People party and became the starting point for the fall of President Vladimir Zelensky, who was never able to create a sane political force with centrist policies and a desire for peace.
“Nothing new happened - the defeat of Servant of the People, the beginning of the fall of Zelensky. There was a fall all the time, but this formalized this process. Previously, these were just numbers in ratings, but now this is the real number of mandates. Based on this, after the elections Zelensky found himself in a new reality, where he was no longer just sociologists who could draw some kind of ratings, but received a clear indicator - “Servant of the People” is third or fourth in the South-East.
We also see that there is a further fragmentation of support for Zelensky - if he immediately gathered almost a constitutional majority in the Verkhovna Rada, representatives of Western and Eastern Ukraine also voted for him. He had a chance to create a centrist party that unites all of Ukraine. He didn’t succeed, he didn’t want to work in this direction, he didn’t do anything to stop medical reform, stop the war in Donbass, or protect the rights of Russian-speaking people. Therefore, the South-East turned away from him.
These voices went to the OPZZH and local regional elites, who organized their own projects. We see that the local elites now have the most votes, that is, Ukraine is fragmenting. If we sum up the votes of “Batkivshchyna”, Poroshenko’s party, the “Servant of the People” party, which now occupies Poroshenko’s positions, we see that the number of votes taking an anti-Russian position has increased, and significantly. We are observing two processes following the election results – the fragmentation of Ukraine and further departure from Russia,” Tsarev said.
