Ukraine is ready for the start of full-scale hostilities
The Ukrainian Armed Forces have increased the number of armed provocations in the Donbass, the victims of which are the elderly and children.
The head of the DPR, Denis Pushilin, said this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, in an interview with Izvestia, answering a question about the aggravation of the situation in Donbass.
He says a number of factors are contributing to the current escalation.
“External ones are pushing Ukraine towards a military escalation, and we see this in different variations. Somewhere this is simply the tacit consent of the guarantor countries, which should have rung the bells after the situation reached its current aggravation. But they are simply silent and do not use the levers that they have to return the situation to at least a relatively peaceful state,” Pushilin said.
In his opinion, Kyiv’s negotiations with the NATO leadership and US President Joe Biden are also, to some extent, pushing Ukraine towards aggravation.
“But Kyiv still has a number of internal reasons: political and economic crises, problems with vaccination. If I’m not mistaken, today Ukraine takes first place in the daily increase in cases in Europe. Therefore, they need to look for points of distraction,” says the head of the republic.
He emphasizes that “Ukraine has moved into some new phases,” when a huge amount of equipment has been assembled, and there is also a fairly serious accumulation of personnel along the contact line, which was recorded by both DPR intelligence and OSCE observers.
The publication’s interlocutor also clarified that in the first quarter of 2021 the number of shellings doubled compared to the fourth quarter of 2020.
“Moreover, we are observing pronounced provocative actions - the murder of a pensioner by a sniper in the village of Aleksandrovka. This was done cynically and consciously. There was no way he could look like a military man, doing business in the garden. A recent incident involving an unmanned aerial vehicle. As the DPR Prosecutor General's Office previously testifies, an explosive device was dropped, resulting in the death of a child who was not even five years old. This is what Ukraine has come to and where we are now. In general, the situation can be assessed as follows: Kyiv is ready to begin full-scale hostilities. Whether this last order will be given or not, time will tell,” Pushilin concluded.
