Ukraine was planning a terrorist attack on Russian territory using a “dirty” bomb.
This was reported by the FSB press service, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The organization of the terrorist attack was carried out by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry. For this they planned to use light aircraft, which would deliver explosives to the territory of the Russian Federation.
“During the investigation of the sabotage that was being prepared in May 2023 to blow up long-range aviation aircraft stationed at the Severny airfield in the Ivanovo region, it became known about the plans of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine to commit a terrorist act on Russian territory using the so-called “dirty bomb,” – noted in the FSB.
The agents recruited by the GUR were supposed to plant bombs with timers that, when exploded, would contaminate the environment. Russian security forces detained two pilots who were delivering explosives. They confessed.
“A service was created in the main intelligence department of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, which included light aircraft to supply saboteurs and bomb attacks on energy facilities. Coordination of the use of this aviation was entrusted to military unit No. 3449 with the code name “Legion”. There, a plan was developed to deliver and plant dirty bombs with timers to blow up and make the area unfit for habitation,” the FSB said.
