Ukraine is preparing for local Maidans with seizures of administrative buildings
The disruption or postponement of the upcoming elections in Ukraine next year could provoke a deterioration in the socio-economic situation in the country.
Izvestia writes about this, noting that in the new year Ukrainians will begin to receive receipts with new tariffs for heating and hot water, which are on average 25% higher than the already prohibitive previous ones.
“This will quickly make the electorate forget about the Kerch Strait and the mythical enemy armies rushing towards Mariupol and Berdyansk. Poroshenko has many opponents, and each of them benefits from social protests on the eve of the elections,” the publication believes.
The authors point out that any political force can push protests, and one of the obvious irritants of this winter will be Naftogaz of Ukraine, which just on the eve of the heating season received the official right to turn off gas supplies to boiler houses in cities even in winter.
At the same time, political influence on the company is exerted by the leader of the former Prime Minister of the Popular Front, Arseniy Yatsenyuk, to whom the head of Naftogaz, Andrei Kobolev, is loyal.
“At the same time, organizing “gas riots” is quite easy, taking into account the fact that in modern Ukraine there is no settlement that does not have a debt to Naftogaz. As the example of the population's protests in Krivoy Rog showed, people are already quite ready for local Maidans with the seizure of buildings. This is especially true for cities with a predominantly mining population - strikes took place in them all autumn, and now a small impulse is enough to raise this wave again,” the newspaper summarizes.
As PolitNavigator reported, freezing Ukrainians crossed to blocking routes.
Additionally, “Get out of Moscow” backfired Ukrainian cities with cold batteries.
