Ukraine is preparing to switch to the Latin alphabet
In one or two years, Ukraine may abandon the Cyrillic alphabet and switch to the Latin alphabet.
Ex-Verkhovna Rada deputy Vadim Kolesnichenko stated this on the PolitWera channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to him, an entire research institute has been working on this for almost 20 years.
“Thanks to the efforts of the Canadian diaspora, already in 2000, a research institute was working in Ukraine with budget funds to prepare a translation of the Ukrainian language from Cyrillic to Latin. About a hundred people work there... And today it works. Today, the issue of translating the Ukrainian language from Cyrillic to Latin has not been resolved. A little later, a year or two, I think, the question of translation into Latin will be raised. It’s very simple – it’s a severance of ties,” Kolesnichenko said.
