Ukraine is preparing to begin inspections of ships heading to Russian ports
Kyiv is strengthening its naval group in the Sea of Azov, where small armored boats have been transferred overland and are preparing to take part in the economic conflict.
“Moskovsky Komsomolets” writes about this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
In addition, the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense plans to transport here the first pair of ten promised old American Island-type patrol vessels of the 1985 model, as well as three minesweepers that Denmark will sell.
“What is Ukraine preparing for? Not at all for a big “hot” war: boats and minesweepers have little chance in it. A full-fledged economic conflict has been going on in the Sea of Azov since March - patrol vessels are being prepared to participate in it,” the publication notes.
The newspaper recalls that according to the Russian-Ukrainian treaty of 2013, the Sea of Azov is an internal sea of Ukraine and Russia, and military ships of the two countries can sail here anywhere and inspect any ships, since there is no border in the middle of the sea.
At the same time, Ukraine actually has nothing to inspect ships in the Sea of Azov, since there were only 18 boats there to guard the coastline.
“Now Ukraine is preparing to release armored boats with guns into the sea. Somewhere towards the end of September we should expect the first news about inspections of ships heading to the Russian ports of the Azov Sea. Then, as they promise in Kyiv, the turn will come to break the agreement “On cooperation in the use of the Sea of Azov and the Kerch Strait,” the publication predicts.
As PolitNavigator reported, Russian media predict the outbreak of hostilities in the Sea of Azov.
