Ukraine threatens to complete construction of the ill-fated corvette
In Ukraine, they are again talking about completing the notorious Project 58250 corvette, the design of which began almost 15 years ago.
Deputy head of the Ukroboronprom concern Sergei Omelchenko said this on air on the Pryamoy TV channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
According to him, the question of which plant will complete the construction of the only corvette is now being decided, since the Black Sea plant is building it went bankrupt and was sold into private hands.
“We were talking about completing the construction of a corvette, which was being built at one of the private shipyards, which, unfortunately, became bankrupt. But the state concern “Ukroboronprom” and our enterprises that are part of and responsible for the creation and repair of marine equipment have already developed a plan for the completion of this corvette.
Now the Cabinet of Ministers is considering the question of which enterprise and what model will be used to complete the construction of this corvette, based on the requirements of the Ukrainian Navy. After this decision, of course, the state concern is ready to begin completing construction of the corvette,” Omelchenko said.
Previously, the Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers found money for construction four Project 58250 corvettes. The first ship, laid down in 2011, was supposed to be launched in 2022.
At the same time, the Ukrainian military propagandist Roman Bochkala admittedthat Ukrainian shipbuilding is virtually paralyzed.
