Ukraine and Moldova are fighting for the title of the most depressed country
The most active and educated population of post-Soviet countries such as Moldova and Ukraine strives to travel abroad.
The director of international programs at the Institute of National Strategy, Yuri Solozobov, told Izvestia, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to him, countries located between the European and Eurasian Unions are in the zone of a demographic tornado.
“The processes are clearly visible in the example of small Moldova. There, a third of the population left for Europe, a third went to Russia, and a third remained where they were. The least educated and least active people refused to go outside the country. They are plunging the country into an even greater depression. The same processes are happening in Ukraine. It’s just that the country is larger, everything happens a little longer,” explains Solozubov.
