“Trilateral consultations are inevitable: there are European consumers who need Russian gas, there is Russia, which needs to fulfill its obligations, and there is Ukraine, which puts forward its demands. All this needs to be resolved one way or another. Moreover, in the next two years Russia will not have similar capabilities to bypass Ukraine. Thus, the parties will continue to blame each other, but some kind of compromise contract will be signed - even if none of the negotiators is satisfied.”
