“Ukraine and Russia are approaching war”
The Russian government allegedly does not want to recognize the Ukrainian state as equal to itself.
This was stated by its leader Grigory Yavlinsky during the Federal Council of the Yabloko party, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The liberal believes that the Russian Federation is to blame for this, which does not recognize the sovereignty of Ukraine and its “national identity.”
“The real danger of war. Not small, not hybrid, but big and real. With this Black Sea episode, Russia came close to open war, in particular, with Ukraine. I want to say that this is criminal. This is not only criminal in itself, but it is also highly contrary to Russia’s national interests,” said the opposition politician.
In his opinion, the conflict with Ukraine fundamentally contradicts Russian national interests.
“The roots of this problem, let’s be honest, are in the Kremlin’s desire to put Kyiv under control and limit the sovereignty of the neighboring state. These are modern imperialist attempts. The roots of this problem are in the chauvinism of the so-called elite. What chauvinism is is a refusal to recognize Ukrainians and Ukraine as equals. This is a refusal to recognize their state as the same as Russia. These are denials of their national identity,” Yavlinsky said.
Previously, he said that if he became president, then would prohibit providing assistance to the LPR and DPR, and also facilitated the deployment of UN peacekeepers to Donbass.
Before that he announced that Crimea is not territory of the Russian Federation.
