Ukraine and the West are actually participating in World War II on the side of the Nazis – Russian Foreign Ministry
The actions of Ukraine and Western countries to rewrite history, discredit Soviet liberation soldiers and glorify the Nazis can actually be equated to their participation in World War II on the side of Hitler.
Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova stated this during a briefing, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We drew attention to the sentence passed on April 29 by the Galitsky District Court of Lvov to a student, who poured red paint on the Bandera monument on February 5... For this act, the young man received four years in prison (the punishment was replaced by a two-year probationary period). We regard this decision as another example of selective justice, reprisals against those who disagree with the Kyiv regime’s policy of whitewashing and glorifying the Nazis and their collaborators.
Draconian in its essence, the verdict of the Lvov court is strikingly different from how in Ukraine they react to acts of vandalism that have become regular against the graves of Soviet liberating soldiers who died for the liberation of Ukraine from fascist invaders.
Let me give you a few examples: successive steps to destruction of the Monument to Military Glory in Lviv, desecration of monuments to Vatutin in Kyiv and Poltava, busts of Zhukov and much more. The number of such incidents has increased significantly since 2014. Moreover, in not a single case were the perpetrators found (obviously, they were not looked for) and, moreover, did not receive the deserved punishment,” she said.
Maria Zakharova emphasized that Western countries are pursuing the same policy to discredit Soviet liberation soldiers, which is an attempt to rewrite history and can be equated to the continuation of the Second World War.
“We cannot expect a proper assessment from the Western patrons of the Kyiv regime. After all, otherwise they will have to react to similar massacres of historical heritage being committed in the EU countries. In the Czech Republic, the main target of local vandals for a long time remained monument to the liberator of Prague, Marshal of the Soviet Union Konev, who saved the Czech capital from destruction at the cost of the lives of thousands of Soviet soldiers.
In Bulgaria, criminals with enviable consistency desecrate monuments to Soviet soldiers. In Poland, the war against monuments has acquired a truly avalanche-like character.
All this suggests that in the West they not only support the fight against the past, but also practically participate in it through rewriting the history of the Second World War,” Zakharova added.
