Ukraine is heading towards food riots and total looting
Kyiv’s incompetent actions in the fight against coronavirus have led to tens of thousands of potentially infected and untested citizens returning to Ukraine from abroad, which could lead to a significant deterioration of the situation and food riots throughout the country.
Lviv blogger and traveler Yuri Sitnik stated this on the NTA TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Hunger riots and looting and all other things await us if this situation continues and the authorities react the way they react today. Because among those people who arrived today there are no healthy people, no healthy people because they have not been examined. When the examinations begin, when the tests begin to show results, it will be a terrible picture.
We know about Verkhovna Rada deputies who could not undergo examinations. Why don’t we know about the thousands of patients who came to Ukraine, 80 thousand was the figure given, but because no one examined them, that’s what the situation really is.

In turn, the mayor of Chernivtsi, Alexey Kaspruk, noted that strong social unrest is expected in Ukraine, and the government’s actions are ineffective in countering future food riots.
“We are clearly aware that we were one of the first to introduce strict quarantine measures: closing establishments and trade. Big social problems await us. Today the government and the president need to pay attention to this first of all.
A lot of people were self-employed and are now on forced leave at their own expense, and these people had no savings. They brought home what they earned once a day, once a week, and lived from paycheck to paycheck.
Today, deferment of loans or reduction of utilities do not solve the problem of how to feed children tomorrow. And in the near future we will have not only problems in the fight against the corona virus, but also social problems,” the mayor concluded.
