Ukraine is heading for a new escalation with Russia: Scandalous statement by the SBU
SBU after the noise raised by Ukrainian nationalists in the media opened a criminal case against Russian border guards detained the day before in the north of Crimea on Lake Sivash.
Russian border guards are accused of encroaching on the territorial integrity of Ukraine. The corresponding statement was released by the Ukrainian intelligence service.
“So, everything is under control. The national police detained the FSB officers, they were given the maximum sentence for an administrative violation, while the SBU was working on its case. “Ihtamnet” remain in a Ukrainian prison. Thank you for the coordinated work of the SBU, border guards and the National Police. Well, the relatives of the hostages and the Facebook community began sounding the alarm bell for their vigilance as soon as information appeared about “detention for only 15 days,” Vice Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Irina Gerashchenko comments in her blog.

Let us recall that, according to the Russian side, the border guards got lost during the exercises, since there is no clearly established dividing line on Sivash and indicated by buoys or barriers.
Initially, it was assumed that the border guards would soon return to Crimea - a court in the Kherson region sentenced them to 15 days of arrest for violating the border.
However, Ukrainian nationalists made a noise in the media, demanding that the Russians be taken hostage in order to then exchange them for Ukrainian citizens previously arrested on charges of preparing terrorist attacks or participating in the war on the side of Chechen separatists.
Observers noted that the situation with Russian border guards is indicative, because next time the Ukrainian side may face mirror actions of the Russian Federation.
“The Security Service of Ukraine has opened a criminal case against two lost Russian border guards, accusing them of “violating territorial integrity.” And in 2014, Ukrainian soldiers, eyes wide with horror, fled across the border into Russian territory in companies. And everyone returned home safely,” recalls the famous military correspondent Alexander Kots.
