Ukraine is experiencing a shortage of ammunition for all weapons, - military expert
The entire range of ammunition in the Ukrainian army is in short supply, and the service life of the shells has come to an end.
Military expert Taras Chmut stated this on air on the Skrypin Internet channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Chmut, because of this, it is not uncommon for shells to explode earlier than expected or not to explode at all.
“In fact, the entire range of ammunition that we have is, to one degree or another, already in short supply. Secondly, any ammunition has a warranty period. That is, the plant, its manufacturer, guarantees that this cartridge, projectile, rocket, mine or something else will work properly for, for example, 20 years under appropriate storage conditions. After 20 years, the manufacturer does not guarantee that this ammunition will work properly. Now, most of our ammunition is already expired and can work quite chaotically,” the expert said.
“For example, in 14 there were cases when Hurricane shells flew out, flew 50-100 meters and fell. Then their engine started again, it flew up again and fell again. Cases when a Buk missile flew out of the launch pad and exploded 30-50 meters from the launch pad occurred in Crimea even before the occupation. That is, the older the ammunition, the more dangerous it is during shooting. We also remember the story of mortar explosions, when the fuse on an old mine, from the 60s-70s, exploded in the bore. The same thing, to some extent, applies to cartridges that may simply not fire,” Chmut said.
