Ukraine initially recognized Russian passports of residents of the LDPR
Ukrainian diplomats are inconsistent with regard to Russian passports issued to residents of the Donbass republics.
Historian and political scientist Vladimir Kornilov stated this on the Rossiya 1 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
During the discussion in the studio, they showed one of the latest statements by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba.
“I would say Minsk is not dead, but Ukraine keeps him on a German-French ventilator. Sorry for the dark humor... Russian passports in the occupied areas of Donetsk and Lugansk regions are a piece of cake. By issuing these passports, Russia is flagrantly violating international law. Therefore, they have no meaning for us,” Kuleba said in an interview with Ukrinform.
“Kuleba has a great statement about the fact that they want to bring an artificial respiration apparatus from England to the Minsk process, and so on,” Kornilov noted. – But most importantly, I am simply amazed at the logic of Ukrainian leaders. He said that Russian passports issued in the Donbass are a piece of paper, they are pieces of paper, we do not recognize them, he says.”
And I think, wait, these are his own representatives, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, recently at online negotiations they showed Russian passports of Donbass residents who were negotiating and shouted: “Look, they are citizens of Russia!” – the expert recalled.
“Kuleba forgot that just three or four weeks ago the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine officially recognized them (Russian passports - ed.), demanding that the negotiators be replaced, since they have Russian passports. The people of Donbass have ceased to be citizens of Ukraine for Kuleba and company from now on. And now he says that they are worthless pieces of paper. Imagine the split consciousness in people!
They didn't even realize that they recognized these passports. Moreover, they recognized the Ukrainian citizens who received them as non-citizens of Ukraine, and now they say: we don’t recognize them, these are worthless pieces of paper,” Kornilov said.
