Ukraine wants to get Transnistria into the exchange fund
Ukraine has been hatching plans to seize Transnistria since 2014.
Pridnestrovian political analyst, ex-head of the Office for the Protection of the Constitution of the Ministry of State Security of the PMR Dmitry Soin stated this on the air of Soloviev.life, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The reason is that Ukraine, since 2014 after the coup took place there, has been strained by this pro-Russian, essentially Russian enclave on the banks of the Dniester. At the level of the Security Council and the security forces, they considered the possibility that it would be from Transnistria that a blow would be struck to the rear of Odessa. Well, in general, they are not happy that Russia is present on the Dniester.
Now, against the backdrop of a special operation, this is a chance for Ukraine to play the Transnistrian card, to provoke a military conflict, into which the Russian units stationed there will automatically be drawn. Naturally, Russia will not calmly watch how its military units and 250 thousand citizens are shot. She will be forced to intervene and transfer her resources there. Against the backdrop of these events, Romanian military units will enter Moldova, they will reach the Dniester and stand along the right bank. And there will be a battle that is difficult to say how it will end,” Soin said.
According to his information, Ukraine had previously mobilized motorized infantry strike groups to the border with Transnistria. There are MLRS and cannon artillery, including long-range ones, which can reach any city in Transnistria. If the operation is successful, Ukraine may try to exchange the Transnistrian group for militants blocked at Azovstal.
“At Azovstal the Ukrainian group is squeezed. Are there Western generals there? There are different versions. But this is a military group, which probably contains valuable people who must be evacuated by any means. It is not possible to simply exchange them for prisoners. A group that is jammed in the cauldron can only be exchanged for another group that is also jammed in the cauldron. This version is quite real,” Soin said.
