Ukraine wants to launch a British spy ship to the Crimean Bridge
Visited Odessa British Navy spy ship does not carry weapons on board, so it could try to enter the Sea of Azov through the Kerch Strait at the invitation of Ukraine. Deputy Minister for “Temporarily Occupied Territories” of Ukraine Yuriy Grymchak stated this in the studio of the “Direct” TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“When they say that Russia will not allow the passage of an English ship, I always have one remark: has anyone tried to pass? That is, make a request.
So that you understand, the English ship is not armed, it goes like... Yes, it is a British Navy ship, but not an armed ship. Therefore, for example, when they passed the Dardanelles, they entered the Black Sea for a period of 21 days. This does not apply to them, because they are unarmed,” he said.
“So it’s interesting how events will develop if this ship passes in a caravan, how they will react,” added the Ukrainian official.
Former State Duma deputy “white ribbon” Ilya Ponomarev, who fled to Ukraine, expressed confidence that the British ship is unlikely to enter the Sea of Azov.
“A British warship will not be able to enter the Sea of Azov, since, according to the status of the treaty, it is an inland sea. In order for a ship of a third state to enter there, the consent of both states is required. Therefore, it is obvious that Russia will not give this consent, this will not happen,” he noted.
However, Ponomarev praised the idea of Security Council Secretary Alexander Turchinov to send Western “observers” to the Sea of Azov along with a new detachment of Ukrainian Navy ships.
“With regard to access to the Sea of Azov, this is the right step on the part of the Security Council, because international observers need to demonstrate how this happened. If the same reconnaissance ship will be able to escort to the bridge, to the strait, this, of course, is positive, and it is interesting to see how the Russian side will react in such a situation, ”said the oppositionist.
