Ukraine wants to sue Russia at sea
Ukraine should sue Russia over alleged armed provocations and blocking of ports in the Sea of Azov.
The leader of the Popular Front parliamentary faction, Maxim Burbak, stated this at a meeting of the Conciliation Council of faction leaders and chairmen of committees of the Verkhovna Rada, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Moscow continues armed provocations in the Sea of Azov. And it continues to blockade our ports, kidnapping our civilian ships. We must confront this. It is necessary to expand sanctions against Russia. Sue the aggressor under the law of the sea. Ukraine has experience of successful sanctions against an aggressor. This summer, two large Russian airlines left the Moldovan market, this is the result of the decision of the Yatsenyuk government in 2015 to close the transit air space. At least three more Russian companies have gone bankrupt since then,” the deputy said.
According to him, Russia is “trying to create chaos and artificial separatism in the coastal regions.”
“Recently in Odessa there was a bloody attack on a local activist. This is the third case in just one year. We demand that the SBU destroy the terrorist underground of Russia. The threat of unrest, provocations and terrorist attacks was prevented once and for all,” said Burbak.
