Ukraine is burying its industry at the request of the IMF – Zemlyansky
The International Monetary Fund puts forward demands to the Ukrainian authorities that worsen the socio-economic situation in the country.
Energy expert Valentin Zemlyansky stated this in an interview with the Kyiv online publication Apostrophe, answering a question about the Ukrainian tariff setting policy in the housing and communal services sector.
“What we have now is that the government follows the logic of the IMF. The IMF says: “Guys, the invisible hand of the market, the liberal model, no subsidies from the state, only subsidies for the poor.” We can already see how these subsidies and tariffs affected the well-being of citizens,” the expert notes.
According to him, IMF demands threaten Ukrainian industry.
“Because again, we return to the logic of the IMF: “Guys, there should be no industry on the territory of Ukraine, from the word “at all.” Industry now consumes about 10 billion cubic meters - this is the lion's share of the gas that we import, plus domestic production goes there. The question is: should we plan for 5-10 years of gas consumption by industry or are we burying it? In the meantime, logically, we will bury her,” summarizes Zemlyansky.
As PolitNavigator reported, Kyiv economists admit that in recent years Ukraine has lost the flagships of its industry and is systematically turning into an agricultural state.
