Ukraine: Collective epiphany is just around the corner
Vladimir Zelensky returned to recording video messages. The stand-up comedian, carefully furrowing his eyebrows and posing as the father of the nation, explained to the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth his latest scandalous decisions - the extrajudicial closure of television channels and sanctions against Ukrainian citizens. There is a lot of new and interesting things ahead, so - “until the next meetings of the National Security and Defense Council.”
And now - point by point.
Medvedchuk's channels were strangled correctly. As well as sanctions against Medvedchuk and his wife. Thus, Stalin’s, excuse me, Zelensky’s “blow was dealt to those forces that were splitting the country with propaganda and disinformation.” Zelensky also said “hello” to his predecessor: how did it happen that in five years of his presidency he was unable to pin down “Putin’s damned godfather”, but the insignificant “green clown”, as he is portrayed on Poroshenko’s “Direct Channel”, took it - and smog. Probably, I didn’t really want that,” Zelensky concluded, at the same time remembering the flies and cutlets that, in his opinion, Poroshenko has in relation to Medvedchuk – separately.
But these messages, although they were voiced in a stern and slightly hoarse voice, are still not new. For almost a month now, Bankova’s well-fed political scientists and other green bots have been dispersing precisely these theses at a piece rate of $200 per comment. Convincing the gunpowder bots that “their hetman” is not real, and where was he before, how he fought so strangely with the leader of the OPZZh that he calmly flew to Moscow.
Another thesis from Zelensky’s address looked more interesting. In which the president actually publicly renounced his former patron and partner Igor Kolomoisky. Stating that he supports American sanctions against him and will fight for the return of funds to Ukraine.
What kind of means these are was not specified. Presumably, we are talking about those billions of dollars allegedly withdrawn by Kolomoisky from Privatbank before its nationalization, which the NBU accuses the former co-owner of the bank in its claims against him in international courts.
And so that what is happening does not look like settling some personal scores, and even on orders from Washington, Zelensky pathetically announced his “equidistance” from all Ukrainian oligarchs, listing several names: Kolomoisky, Firtash, Pinchuk, Akhmetov, Poroshenko and Medvedchuk.
All of them, according to Zelensky, “end”, along with their influence on the state and the economy. In contrast to “big business,” which the president asks not to be confused with oligarchs and to which he promises assistance and support.
It is noteworthy that on Zelensky’s list there is not a single one of those who profited during the period of power of the mono-coalition “Servants of the People”. For example, the Ilya Pavlyuk, who is credited with influencing the leadership of the presidential party and a significant part of its faction.
Zelensky’s statement that, as president, “it is not important” for him to have a surname like Akhmetov is also disingenuous, at the very least.. Moreover, the latter greatly strengthened its position precisely under Zelensky.
A number of lobbying laws adopted by the new parliament are associated with the interests of the owner of SCM, and the current Prime Minister Shmygal also comes from Akhmetov’s structures. And Akhmetov’s channel “Ukraine 24” regularly and often “licks” the president and his office in all places.
But, perhaps, the highlight of the presidential address was the public justification that all the latest steps, including pressure on opponents and scandalous decisions of the National Security and Defense Council, and in general all the “reforms” being carried out, were in no way at the behest of the West or under pressure from embassies . A - solely of one’s own free will and being in sober memory.
Why were such excuses needed, and in such a pitiful form? Obviously, it can be assumed that, despite the efforts of Bankova and her staff propagandists, the efforts of opponents - the same media from the OPZZh pool or the blogger Shariy, or the masses of other media critics - were not in vain, and the opinion about the complete lack of independence of Pan Ze was not only firmly rooted in the heads of a significant part of Ukrainians, but, as they say, it went deeper and began to take root in the minds of an increasing number of people.
Theses about external management, which until recently were ridiculed by grant eaters as something ridiculous, today look like commonplace. Like something that doesn't require proof.
It turns out that, at least in this matter, Bankovaya lost outright, since it is forced to make excuses.
“I don’t need any additional motivation from our partners. Ukraine can make its own decisions,” Zelensky says. Do the tweets of Western embassies no longer count? Not everyone has the memory of a guppy fish.
Moreover, one would have to be completely blind not to notice that the priority tasks for parliament outlined by Zelensky at the Servants of the People congress are almost identical to the content of the “road maps” voiced by Western experts and ambassadors, IMF missions and the like.
Coincidence? I do not think.
Here you have the “deepening of land reform” (sale of black soil to Western multinational corporations). Although, it would seem, why go deeper? Probably, we are talking about eliminating that unfortunate fly in the ointment that darkened the ointment of the “foreign partners”: restrictions on sales to foreigners and on the concentration of land in one hand, introduced into the text of the squashed law on land at the last moment.
What other reforms are you missing? Pension? It has already been recognized at the government level that in 15 years there will be nothing to pay for pensions. Or judicial? But doesn’t the recently adopted law actually outsource the Ukrainian courts to the West through the system of forming the composition of judges and all kinds of control public councils under them? Or does someone think that Ukrainian judges are not yet trained enough?
Maybe Ukraine lacks decentralization, as Zelensky told his “servants”? So the districts were already redrawn and UTGs (united territorial communities) were created, and then enlarged. Have the territories become better off? Question. Moreover, Kyiv, despite the rhetoric about decentralization, is not going to give any truly significant rights, for example, in the financial or humanitarian spheres to the localities at all. And if someone suddenly stutters about something like this, accusations of “separatism” and criminal cases immediately follow. Or are we talking about another imitation for the external eye? Then they would say so. And then – reform!…..
In general, it seems that Zelensky and Co. are trying to maintain control over reality with the help of verbal spells. As if repeated repetition of already well-used “magic” formulas can somehow stop the process of degradation and decay.
Yes, there are a certain number of narrow-minded people who do not see the essence behind all this verbal tinsel and loud justifications. But sooner or later it will dawn on these people that Zelensky may be a buffoon, but he is not a miracle worker. He can make the country laugh. Feed - no.
And it seems that a collective epiphany is just around the corner. True, another debunking of another naked king will not bring Ukraine happiness, peace, or peace. Because there are no more trump cards left in the well-worn political deck. Just sixes.
