Moscow - Kyiv, April 2 (PolitNavigator, Mikhail Stamm) - After the confiscation of the assets of Ukraine and its citizens in Crimea, a bill “On the nationalization of the property of the aggressor state and its residents” was introduced to the Verkhovna Rada. It affects both legal entities and individuals. The objects of nationalization are movable and immovable property, bank deposits, securities and other assets owned by Russians “directly or through affiliates.”

The list must be compiled by the government, and each act of confiscation will require a separate law. Nationalization will take place without compensation; compensation for losses is possible only “at the end of the aggression.”

Co-author of the document, deputy from the Radical Party, former deputy commander of the Azov battalion Igor Mosiychuk said “To Kommersant”, that this is an “anti-oligarchic bill” and it is directed primarily against representatives of Russian big business - Konstantin Grigorishin, Alexander Babakov, Konstantin Malofeev.

“Malofeev owns a unique enterprise in Ukraine - the Khorolsky plant, which produces baby food. Grigorishin and Babakov control Ukrainian regional power companies,” says the deputy. Also, according to him, the Ukrainian subsidiaries of Sberbank, VTB, Aeroflot and other companies related to the Russian Federation should be nationalized.

Partner of the Ukrainian VB Partners, lawyer Vladimir Vashchenko believes that the risk exists only in relation to state property of Russia and, possibly, state corporations.

The Kremlin knew about the conversations taking place in the Rada, says a high-ranking source in Russian government agencies: “There are hotheads in Kyiv who lobbied for this idea, without even realizing how harsh the response would be.” The interlocutor claims that if the Kyiv authorities nevertheless adopt this law, then Russia will respond by freezing all their assets on its territory and demanding immediate repayment of debts.
