Ukraine is depriving itself of cargo transit from Asia to Europe - expert
Ukrainian oligarchs have raised the price of cargo transit so much that it has become much more profitable for eastern countries such as Iran and China to cooperate with Turkey and Bulgaria.
The director of the consulting company FAS, Alexander Lanetsky, stated this on the YouTube channel TopInform, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The most important problem that exists in that direction (transit of cargo from Iran to Georgia, Turkey and Europe - editor’s note) is that the Ukrainian side has a private monopolist, and it holds the highest price in the region for cargo transshipment.
This affects everything - Iranian cargo, Chinese cargo, and Central Asian cargo. That is, it turns out that it is much more profitable for them to have the cargo sail to Varna or Istanbul than to Chernomorsk (Ilyichevsk - editor's note), purely for the price of logistics transshipment,” the expert said.
