Ukraine could become an empire, but everything is ruined by the rural mentality – Kyiv experts
Ukraine, as a multinational and multicultural country with “economic diversity,” should become an empire in the future.
Ukrainian political scientist Vadim Karasev stated this on the YouTube channel “Politeka Online”, the correspondent of “PolitNavigator” reports.
“First of all, I want to say that the question is not who Ukraine is, but who it should become as a result of further transformations and transformations. Because we have not yet chosen the concept that can ensure the development of our sovereignty and economy.
In fact, we are still at the mercy of those external discourses that are imposed on us. In fact, Ukraine, in principle, as a project can exist exclusively as a new empire. Ukraine should become a new imperial project.

In turn, Kiev political scientist Mikhail Chaplyga agreed with the idea that Ukraine should become an empire, but added that so far this will not be possible due to the carefully cultivated rural mentality.
“The only path for Ukraine is an empire. When we recognize multiculturalism, multihistory, multilanguages, multireligion, and so on. That's when the nation looks to the future. But, let me ask a provocative question - does a nation have a future if its anthem does not inspire for the future, and, excuse me, but, unfortunately, his words seem more archaic-rural to me.
If at the school where my child goes, and I go through the program with him, and it, unfortunately, does not cultivate a policy - global thinking, strength, intelligence, science, but cultivates a “cherry orchard near the hut” - a rural narrative. Tell me, do we have a future?” – Chaplyga doubted.
