Ukraine may lose not only territory, but also army – Zolotarev
In an attempt to hold Avdiivka, Ukraine may lose its armed forces.
Political scientist Andrei Zolotarev stated this on the video blog of journalist Alexander Shelest, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Zolotarev, the Artemovsk scenario is being repeated in Avdeevka. But, having destroyed the combat-ready forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces there, the Russian army receives a huge bridgehead almost to Dnepropetrovsk.
“In fact, we see a repetition of Bakhmut. Now, I don’t want to act as a military expert, because, sitting in relatively calm Kyiv, this is one thing, and another thing is there, in this darkness and hell. It’s easy to give advice from afar, but it seems to me that this old maxim is that if the territory is lost, nothing is lost, but if the army is lost, then you will also lose the territory. Therefore, in my opinion, any commander knows this,” the expert said.
“First of all, it is important to preserve the combat effectiveness of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Yes, the easiest way is to grind down the most motivated parts in battles, as was the case with Bakhmut, but what next?
A line of fortifications was built behind Avdeevka, because further on there are no such positions convenient for defense right up to Pokrovsk? And from Pokrovsk to the Dnieper there are only 100 kilometers, it’s not such a long distance,” Zolotarev said.
